ELAC men’s basketball wins Cuyamaca Tournament

EL CAJON, Calif. — No. 5-statewide ranked East Los Angeles College won its third tourney title of the season, the 2018 Cuyamaca College Tournament, with an 88-55 win against Antelope Valley College.

It was the 13th tournament title for Huskies during the current John Mosley era, head coach of ELAC. The Huskies improve to 10-3 overall. ELAC defeated Santa Ana College (6-9) 94-70 in the first round and host Cuyamaca (2-14), 72-64, in the semifinals.

DAWG TRACKS

Freshman guard Levelle Zeigler (Ridgeview HS) scored a team high 17 points against Santa Ana and had a team high five assists. Sophomore forward Babacar Thiombane (Fairfax HS), a transfer from Army West Point, scored 15 points.

Two sophomore guards scored 12 points each, Alec Hickman (J. Serra HS), a transfer from UC Riverside, and Darius Henderson (Taft HS). Sophomore guard Deshaun Highler (JW North HS), a transfer from The University of Texas at El Paso, scored 10 points.

Sophomore forward Jermaine Small-Camacho (Hamilton HS) had a team high nine rebounds against Santa Ana and Henderson had eight. Two Huskies blocked two shots each, Small-Camacho and sophomore forward Solomon Hunt (Upland HS). Other stats have not been posted.

UP NEXT

The Huskies host El Camino College (3-10) in a South Conference North Division crossover game, Friday, Jan. 4 in the South Gym at 5 p.m.
