Joseph Alexander Gomez was born in Los Angeles, California, where he has lived for most of his life. He grew up in the area of Echo Park, Hollywood and currently resides in North Hollywood. After graduating from high school he began working for L.As Best where he quickly found a passion for coaching.
Before joining Coach Flores's staff, Gomez coached at his alma mater John Marshall High School. He began in 2013, coaching the JV team for two seasons: 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. In '14-'15, the team went 8-0-2, winning their first league title. This success earned Gomez a promotion to head coach for the varsity program. In his first year of leading varsity, the team finished with an overall record of 10-6-3 (6-1-3), placing third in the Northern League. Under Coach Gomez's second season, the Barristers would go 6-3-1 in League, good for second place. In his third year, the team finished 7-1-2 in league play (12-6-3 overall) earning second place in League.
The team has earned three consecutive League titles for seasons from 2018-19 thorugh 2020-21. During the '18-'19 season, the team went 9-0-1 in league, 13-5-3 overall record, 56 goals scored and 24 goals against. The Barristers reached semi finals of the CIF L.A City Section. In the '19-'20 season, the team finished 17-4-3 overall (8-0-2 League) with 81 goals scored and 24 goals scored against. They reached the quarterfinals in the CIF L.A city section. During the covid year of 2020/2021 season the team went 4-0-0 with an overall 10-1-0. Were crowned league champions for the 3rd year in a row. Reached semi finals in the CIF L.A City Section, we're eliminated by Taft in penalties. 36 goals scored 7 goals scored against for this season.Other coaching positions held:
The youngest of 4 kids, 3 older sisters. Graduated from John Marshall High School in 2009, later went to Pasadena City College where he earned his AA in sociology and transfered to Calstate L.A earning a bachelor's in Sociology and a minor in Sociology of law.
Coach Joseph also had the opportunity to coach at the UPSL level thanks to Georgi. He was part of the coaching staff and the team had an extraordinary season with L.A 10 owned by former World Cup player Allesandro Del Piero. He has pushed countless players he's coached into the collegiate level, professional level and the academy level and hopes to continue to do so for as long as he could.
