Personal Records Highlight ELAC T&F Results at Cerritos Open

NORWALK, CA — The East Los Angeles College men’s track and field team sent a small roster to the Cerritos Open highlighted by personal records at Cerritos College Falcon Field.

The Huskies competed with only about half their runners.

The ELAC 4 x 400-meter relay team bolted to a personal record of 3 minutes and 35.40 seconds, which is the fifth fastest time in Southern California.

The Huskies upset the higher ranked 400 relay team from San Bernardino Valley College. The ELAC relay team consists of freshmen Kirk Baril (Millbrae Mills HS), Jakob Tilford (Colony HS), Garrison Harris (GA / Elbert County HS) and Steven Garcia (Montebello HS).

Tilford won his heat in the 400-meter run with a personal record of 50.82, which was good enough for an overall seventh-place finish among 34 competitors.

Baril placed second in his heat of the 100-meter dash, 7th overall from a field of 20, with a personal record of 11:18. It is a Top-Ten SoCal mark. Nicholas Hutson (Paramount HS) ran a personal best time in the 200-meter dash.
