Behind a complete-game shutout by East LA College pitcher Jaqueline Martinez, the Huskies (6-21, 3-13) blanked the visiting Compton Tartars (0-18, 0-18) 4-0.

The Huskies offense has struggled of late, but they finally were able to break through in the bottom of the fifth. With runners at second and third with one out, soph CF Nathalie Cordova sharply lined a pitch off the glove of 3B Julissa Navarro that caromed behind her for a 2RBI single to break up the scoreless duel.

In their half of the following inning, the Pack tacked on two more runs: following a leadoff double by soph SS Priscilla Hernandez and a sac fly to advance her to third, the pitcher Martinez was up. She helps her own cause by slapping a clean single up the middle to drive home Hernandez. A fielding error and a walk loaded the bases; soph C Arianna Cobian came to bat and tapped a bouncer back to the pitcher, who threw home for the force. However, Tartars C Ruby Munoz tried to throw to first to get Cobian, and the throw sailed to the left of 1B Celeste Valencia - allowing frosh 2B Emilia Corona to score all the way from second.

Martinez retired the side in the seventh on three straight grounders back to herself to secure the win. Her final line was 7IP with nine strikeouts and no walks.
