Bio

East Los Angeles College Head Coach Erika Blanco is now in her 26th season of coaching softball and in her 15th season at East Los Angeles College.  In only her second season at East L.A., she led the Huskies to their first-ever berth in the California Community College playoffs. They finished 28-15 despite having played 30 of their 43 games away from home.  In her second season here at East Los Angeles College, she was named the South Coast Conference Coach of the Year, Southern California Coach of the Year, and National Fastpitch Coaching Association West Regional Staff of the Year (NFCA).  In 2014, Coach Blanco led the Huskies to their first South Conference Championship in school’s history.  Coach Blanco was awarded her second South Coast Conference Coach of Year title and led the Huskies to their first Super Regionals in school’s history.  Head Coach Blanco has led the Huskies for the first time in school’s history, playoff berths in 2009, 2010, 2014.

Prior to her arrival to East Los Angeles, Blanco was the Head Coach at Long Beach City College from 2004 to 2007. She guided the Vikings to the Southern Regional playoffs in 2006 and 2007. 

Blanco was also an assistant coach at Cal State Fullerton from 2000 to 2002 and helped the Titans to consecutive Big West Conference championships in 2001 and 2002.

Her coaching career began in 1997 when she was named Head Coach at Bullard High School in Fresno, where she coached for three seasons.  Her teams were league champions each season and were CIF, state, and national champions in 1999. She was named Coach of the Year all three seasons. In 1999 she and her staff were honored as National Fastpitch Coaching Association West Regional Coaching Staff (NFCA) of the Year.

In her academic role at East Los Angeles College, Head Coach Erika Blanco started as a full-time Kinesiology instructor for 5 years.  Now she is in her 13th year as the Department Chair of Kinesiology.

As a player Coach Blanco played at Division I Fresno State University under Coach Margie Wright 1992-96.  At Fresno State, the Bulldogs were WAC Champions in 1996 and earned a spot in the Softball College World Series in 1995.  Blanco is a Central Valley native growing up in a small farm community of Tranquility.
