Strong Showing by Host ELAC at the Brawl

East Los Angeles College Wrestling held it's annual "The Brawl at ELAC" today, with a total of 13 colleges and universities participating in the all-day wrestlefest.

The host Huskies represented themselves very well; the team finished fifth in overall team score (73.5), with four wrestlers placing in their respective weigh classes. Josue Aguilar (149lb) and Emmanuel Zepeda (157lb) each finished second, with Nicolas Lopez (165 lbs) and Juan Zapien (184 lbs) each finishing third.

The ELAC Women's Club also hit the mats during the Brawl, with Miya Galvan of Bell Gardens taking home first place in the 116lb class.

HUSKY BITS:

• ELAC wrestlers faced club athletes from the university level and fared well against them. The Huskies scored several takedowns against USC and UCLA, with Zapian scoring a pinfall against the Bruins' Peter Nguyen.

NEXT UP:

ELAC will await word on their participation in the CCCAA South Regional in Santa Ana on the weekend of December 6-7.
