Three Huskies Earn Place Finishes at State Championships

Sophomores Troy Garza and Devin Peries successfully repeated as CCCAA State Placers, while freshman Joshua Padilla earned his first State Placer as the Huskies competed at the CCCAA State Wrestling Championships at West Hills College Lemoore this weekend.

Just as they did last year, ELAC sent six wrestlers to State to compete for top finishes. The six that qualified are:

 

As penned on their Instagram page, the Green were excited to get to the top stage of California JUCO wrestling:

"WOW what a season! This weekend the Pack travelled to West Hills College Lemoore for the annual CCCAA State Wrestling tournament. Six of our Huskies qualified for the meet and three are bringing home some hardware. Freshman Joshua Padilla place seventh, while our Co-Captains Troy Garza and Devin Peries both became Two time CCCAA State Placers by taking 8th."
 
The coaching staff then commented on the overall journey of their team and wrestlers this past season:


"One word that can describe this season is, adversity. It's a tough task being a student athlete at this level. Hurdles can manifest themselves at a moments notice without any signs. These boys made a decision to keeping pushing forward no matter the situation. We couldn't be happier to coach a groups of stellar young men!"
