ELAC women’s soccer loses its second contest in the last five games

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — After only losing once in the last four games, East Los Angeles College women’s soccer team fell short in South Coast Conference North Division play with a 3-1 loss to Chaffey College.

The Huskies fall to 2-4-3 overall and 1-2 in the North while Chaffey (5-1-2, 2-0) remains tied for the North lead with Rio Hondo College (5-1-2, 2-0).

Chaffey led 2-1 after the first 45 minutes. The Panthers scored two early goals, the first in the 4th minute by Angel Rodriguez (assist Caeylee Esquivel) and the other in the 16th minute from Rebecca Gonzales (Taylor Windham).

ELAC scored on unassisted goal from sophomore Alexandra Lopez (Bravo Medical Magnet School) on a free kick blast in the 40th minute.

Chaffey added a goal in the 67th minute from Ivy Vollaire (Danielle Perez).

ELAC sophomore goalkeeper Adriana Huerta (South East High School) had eight saves today. Chaffey goalkeeper Esmeralda Garcia had four saves.

ELAC plays at Mt. San Antonio College (3-7, 1-2) on October 9 in Walnut in North play.
