ELAC volleyball loses but is still in the race for the SCC title

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – The wild volleyball conference title race between East Los Angeles, Pasadena Mt. San Antonio and Chaffey colleges just got crazier with upsets as the regular season is winding down.

The Huskies women’s volleyball team lost to Chaffey 3-0 (29-27, 25-19, 25-18) tonight in a heated battle for the South Coast Conference North Division championship and a playoff bid.

The Huskies put up a valiant effort in front of a boisterous crowd.

More information will be updated when it becomes available.

The four teams each have two games remaining in the regular season. The Pasadena Lancers can shut the door on the four-team race and win the crown outright against Chaffey on Friday. However, Chaffey is primed for an upset. Along with Mt. SAC, they are the two hottest teams in the SCC North.

ELAC faces its biggest test of the year vs. Mt. SAC on Friday at home. A win along with a Pasadena loss, puts the Huskies in a position they haven’t been in more than three decades, winning a conference crown. The Huskies face Rio Hondo College, Tuesday, Nov. 13. The Roadrunners, who shut out Mt. SAC, will play a spoiler role.

The current standings include Pasadena (11-12, 5-2) in first place, followed by Chaffey (15-8, 4-2). ELAC (12-10, 3-3) and Mt. SAC (10-13, 3-3) are tied for third place.
