TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College capped off the regular season with a third-place finish at the inaugural South Coast Conference Tournament with a 1-0 victory over East Los Angeles Friday afternoon at Murdock Stadium.

The Warriors finish the year with a 13-2-5 overall record and will await to find out their playoff standing this weekend. The Warriors only two losses on the year came to Cerritos; once in the regular season and the other coming in the SCC Tournament Semifinals on Tuesday. The Falcons finished second on Friday night after falling 2-1 to No. 1 seed Mount San Antonio in the title match.

For the Warriors, the only scoring of the day came in the 64th minute on an excellent three-man play. Armando Alonzo began the action near midfield, sending a pass to the far left side to Cristo Deras who split to defenders and sent a cross into the box.

Melvyn Perez-Cortez awaited the pass to the right of the goal and dove to head the ball back toward the middle of the six-yard box where Alonzo chested the ball into the net for the goal and a 1-0 lead.

The Warriors defense did the rest as they allowed just four shots on target for the match and goalkeeper Luis Garibay stuffed all four attempts to record his seventh shutout of the season.

The Warriors will likely host a first round game in the upcoming CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs, which get underway with a play-in game on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
