Huskies soccer falls to Mt. SAC who is ranked No. 5 in the Nation

WALNUT, Calif. — After building a 1-0 halftime lead, the East Los Angeles College Huskies men’s soccer team fell 3-1 to the 5th-ranked team in the country, Mt. San Antonio College.

After an even first half from both teams of attacking and stellar defense, ELAC bolted through the Mounties defense and scored a goal in the 43rd minute.

The Husky defense couldn’t keep the gaps closed in the second half. As a result, Mt. SAC tied it in the 50th minute from forward Marty Raygoza’s goal (assist forward Gustavo Lopez) and went ahead 10 minutes later from a shot to the net by defender Robert Munoz (assist forward Giovanny Garcia).

Mt. SAC added an insurance goal in the 65th minute from Gustavo Lopez (assist defender Alfonso Lopez)

With the loss, ELAC (3-7-2, 1-3) drops into a tie for last place in the conference with Pasadena City College (4-5-2, 1-3) while Mt. SAC (9-2-2, 3-0-1) remains in first place.
