Huskies Shut Out Pasadena City 2-0

Huskies Shut Out Pasadena City 2-0

by Cerwin D. Haynes

Having yet to score a goal or taste victory so far in October, the Huskies men's soccer team badly needed both. Playing with more aggression and control, the Huskies created the scoring chances they desparately needed to earn a 2-0 shutout win over the Pasadena City College Lancers. Both goals were scored in the first half: Paulo Macedo-Nakashigue scored first in the 29th minute (assisted by Adriel Dominguez), and Fabrizo Macia found net in the 44th minute (assisted by Macedo-Nakashigue).

In the second half, the Lancers were able to put together some offensive pressure, but ELAC would recover on defense in time to squeeze out clean shot opportunities. Nifty, heads-up play by Huskies' goalie Oscar Ponce also snuffed out PCC scoring opportunities.

HUSKY BITS

  • ELAC more than doubled their average offensive output tonight (.85 goals/game).
  • East LA had not scored a goal in two weeks (a 3-0 win over LA Harbor on Sept 27th).
  • ELAC players Adriel Dominguez and Edwin DeJesus were given yellow cards. PCC's Andres Velasquez was assessed a red card.
  • Today was the Huskies' first SCC (conference) win.

UP NEXT: East Los continues conference play as they travel to Cerritos to face the Falcons on Tuesday, October 15th. Match starts at 4pm.
