Huskies Hold On Against Chaffey to Start 2020 with a W

Having their 2020 season debut delayed for a week due to opponent rescheduling, East Los Angeles College finally kicked off their 2020 regular season out in Rancho Cucamonga against the Chaffey Panthers. Leading 4-1 going into the bottom of the 7th inning, the Huskies were able to stave off the Panthers comeback attempt for a 4-3 victory. Starting pitcher Lauren Tate gets the win with six strong innings: only one earned run on six hits, one walk and four strikeouts. She also helped her cause at the plate, going 2-4 with a homerun and two RBIs. Second baseman/outfielder Irene Dorado hit safely in her three plate appearances with two runs scored, while catcher Melanie Torres (aka Baby Shark) had two hits in three at-bats. 2019 All SCC-North First-Teamer Puatausaga Johnson hit 1-3 with a run scored.
