Husky Volleyball Wins in 3 Over Los Angeles Trade Tech

MONTEREY PARK, CA – East Los Angeles snags a 3-0 win over Los Angeles Trade Tech with set scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-16.

The start of the first set began with the Huskies and Beavers trading possession about every other pointuntil the Beavers pulled ahead 9-3. A middle attack from sophomore hitter Eriazmin Mauries set thetone for how the game would move thereafter. Using that momentum, the Huskies soared to a 25-16finish thanks to a 10-point run after the 14th point for East Los Angeles.

East Los Angeles – Huskies continued to use runs to their advantage with a 11-7 lead in the second set thanks to a six point run right out of the gate. The Huskies continued to fire with two additional runs of four and a finalrun of 6 points, bringing the Huskies to a 25-16 win thanks to the set-winning attacks from Eriazmin Mauries (13 Kills, 8 Digs, and 4 stuff blocks). Set 3 began with the Huskies putting the first thirteen points on the board.The Beavers weren’t done fighting as they slowly narrowed the margin to 14-12, but it wasn't quite enough to steal the set from the Huskies, ending the match 3-0 with game winning kills and blocks from Breanna Trujillo, Alexis Salazar (Pictured above), and Mia Madott.

East Los Angeles finished the afternoon with a .357 hitting percentage, with kills across the board,including Eriazmin Mauries leading with 13, 8 digs, Breanna Trujillo, Mia Madott, and Alexis Salazareach with 10 kills, and Vanessa Gutierrez picked up 8 digs and 18 assists. Eriazmin Mauries and Mia Madott lead the evening with 3 stuffed blocks a piece.

East Los Angeles (8-9, 2-4) will host Long Beach City College in the “E-rena” at 6 PM Friday, October24, 2014.
