ELAC volleyball wins at Saddleback

MISSION VIEJO, CA — The East Los Angeles College volleyball team won its second consecutive game with a 3-0 defeat of Saddleback College earlier this evening in a non-conference game.

The Huskies found a way to close out two close sets after struggling in a few losing sets in the previous six games.

“Our defense was on and our transition was smooth. The game was consistent and a threat when we needed it the most,” said ELAC Coach Elliott Walker. “Our middles did an excellent job attacking and blocking.”

The teams were deadlock in the first set at 17-17. ELAC came through when it mattered, closing out 8-5 to win the first set 25-22.

In the second set, the teams each rallied to keep it close culminating in 17-17 and 21-21 deadlocks.

The stellar energetic Husky defense and quick offense closed out the second set with a 4-2 run, winning 25-23.

The Huskies built on their momentum and closed out the third set 25-13.

“It was nice to watch them (the Huskies) settle and put to practice the elements of the game,” said Walker.
