Flores Races to 1st in SDCC Coach Downey Invite
by Cerwin D Haynes
East LA College only had one woman runner down in San Diego at today's Coach Downey Classic.
But when that runner is sophomore Marbella Flores, The Pack has a good a shot as anyone to grab first... which is exactly what she did.
With a time of 19:19, Flores beat out a field of 50 runners, and finished almost a full minute ahead of second-place Megan Feitz of Cerritos. Flores - whom herself along with her coach have State Championship goals - now has a first-place finish to go along with second, fourth, and 11th place finishes so far. Note that her 11th place finish was at the Biola Invite, a field mixed with four-year university participants - she finished first among all JUCO runners.
