In the baseball world, one of the biggest events for scouts during the year are baseball showcases. These events bring out the very best from the collegiate level at the local, and sometimes national level, allowing for players to show their skills in front of scouts and alongside players they do not normally get to play against.

One such showcase is the CCCBCA Annual ETeam Sponsor Fall Showcase. In its 31st season, the showcase will take place on Sunday October 9th at Saddleback College. East Los Angeles College has three baseball players who have been invited to participate in the showcase. They are C/INF Michael Easter, INF Ruben Hernandez, and P Francisco (Paco) Dominguez.

"This is very exciting for these three ballplayers" said Huskies Baseball head coach Alec Adame, who nominated the three young men. "The showcase will provide them an opportunity to play against the best of the best and in front of scouts from all over."

All three players had great seasons for the Green last spring:

  • Easter hit .346 with 45 hits, two homers and 29 RBI's. Also had a knack for hitting to the opposite field.
  • Hernandez hit .310 with 49 hits, three homers and 25 RBIs.
  • Dominguez had a 3.92 ERA on the mound to go with 48 strikeouts.

Below are Coach Adame's write-ups on each of the ballplayers, which helped secure their selection to the showcase. Notes include grades and analytics on player abilities:

Michael Easter: "2022 All-South Coast Conference Baseball Honorable Mention, Catcher, LHH, Accurate Arm, Sub 2.0 POP, ++ Receiver, + Hitting Ability with Gap & HR Power. Comp: Stephen Vogt. Great Student-Athlete & Absolute Captain!

Francisco (Paco) Dominguez: 2022 All-South Coast Conference Baseball Starting Pitcher Second Team, RHP, 4 Pitch Mix, Can Throw All 4 Pitches for Strikes anytime in the Count, + Competitor, Minimal BB, Gets Outs Early in the Count, Induces Ground Balls. FB: 87-90 MPH downplane w/good sink, CB: + 12/6 Breaker, SL: Good Strike Zone Bite, CH: Good Sink & Keeps Arm Speed.

Ruben Hernandez: SS/2B/3B, can play all 3 positions with Good Actions, 50 Arm, Throws from all Angles. Good Hitting Ability, Good Bat Speed, + Bat Control, Hard Contact Most of the Time. 40 Runner. Great teammate on & off of the Field.

All three players will be back on the field for ELAC next spring, and we certainly look forward to seeing them in action during the showcase and wish them the best!
