Fascinating that a player with the (first) name Jordan, who's jersey number is #23 - and is 6' 6" - would be headed to the same city where "His Airness" ruled the professional hardwood for close to two decades.

It's hopeful that this Jordan - East Los Angeles College sophomore guard/foward Jordan Polynice - will also find success playing in the Windy City.

Polynice will join teammate Levelle Zeigler in playing for the Chicago State University men's basketball team next season. The lanky wing averaged 7.5 points per game this past season on 51% shooting from the field and 81% from the free throw line, and is defined as a "jack of all trades" type of player by CSU Cougars head coach Lance Irvin. "Jordan is a very good defender and a hard worker," says Coach Irvin. "He has a nice offensive package which will allow me to play him at different perimeter positions. The sky is the limit for him."

ELAC head coach John Mosley said in an interview back in March that Polynice, an All SCC-North Second Teamer, provided great versatility to a stacked Huskies' roster. "Any other team, he might be - could be - an MVP or first teamer," says Coach Mosley. "He does just about everything, from scoring to rebounding... to being able to facilitate guards, bigger guards," said Coach Mosley.

HUSKY BITS

  • Polynice scored a season-high 20 points in only 21 minutes of play in a 82-68 East win at LA Harbor back on January 10.
  • With Polynice and Zeigler heading to Chicago State, they will team with another former Huskies' standout in Cougars' center Solomon Hunt. The 6' 9" Hunt transferred from ELAC after the spring of 2019.
