With the women's soccer head coaching position vacated by the recent departure of Tessa Troglia, Athletic Director Bobby Godinez knew the program needed someone of high quality to take the reigns. After an extensive search, ELAC Athletics has named one-time Huskies' student-athlete Jessica Correll as the program's next head coach.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Jessica Correll back home to East Los Angeles College" Godinez said. "Coach Correll has an impressive resume on the youth circuit, and we look forward to her leading our Women's Soccer team into the future."

Correll takes over as women's soccer head coach after a detailed and successful run of building and running a bevy of youth and young-adult soccer programs throughout Southern California for the past ten years. And she is ready for her new role.

"I am excited to take on a new personal challenge in my career, but am most looking forward to being able to help this upcoming group of female soccer players," claims Correll. "My goal is to provide an environment that encourages their growth and allows them to strive for goals both on and off the field that they may have never thought were possible. I am also excited about growing the program and pushing it to its full potential, while building on the foundation that is already in place".

Not only has she coached both boys and girls from ages two through 22, but she also created college workshops and assisted high school athletes in the college recruitment and application processes. Many of the schools and organizations she's worked with includes Renegades FC (where she was a Director of Coaching from 2019-2020), FC Golden State, SLA Nomads, La Salle College Preparatory, San Gabriel High School, San Gabriel Mission High School, Monrovia High School, Cathedral High School, and Ramona Convent Secondary School. Correll also served as an assistant coach at Caltech from 2017-2019 where she was involved in all aspects of team operations, kicking off the program's first two years of existence.

Coach Correll believes her experience on the youth circuit will be a major advantage to her in her new role. "For the last 10 years, I have primarily coached at both the club and high school levels," she says. "I have held a variety of leadership roles that have allowed me to develop and build individuals, teams, and programs".

It is that experience in building and managing programs, as well as her keen understanding and networking within the youth clubs, that grabbed the attention of the department during the interview process.  "My experience in managing soccer programs and my ability to freely reach out to the connections I have established, while continuing to create new ones, will aid in the overall development and success of ELAC's Women's Soccer program." Correll exclaims.

As mentioned above, Correll is a former Husky: she played for Troglia back in 2016 before a torn ACL cut her season short. Now, the Ramona Convent grad is excited to call East Los Angeles College "home" again and is ready to lead and grow the program. "Coming back to ELAC has brought me full circle and will allow me to give back to a new group of female athletes," Correll reflects. "I understand the competitive nature of the area, and am prepared to recruit, develop, and grow a winning program with strong players at the college level."
