
Huskies Turn in Steady Performances in Tri-Meet

East Los Angeles College Swim & Dive hosted their first non-tournament regular season meet this morning, a three-way matchup with Cerritos and Rio Hondo.
Despite Cerritos utilizing their numbers' advantage as far as participants, several Huskies had strong showings, headlined by freshmen Sindy Rojas (48.58) and Megan Duong (1:23.01) finishing 1-2 in the Women's 100Y Breastsroke. East LA also notched second-place finishes in the following events:
- Women's 200Y Medley Relay (FR Jimena Hernandez, FR Megan Hayashida, SO Alejandra Ramos, FR Dali Cardenas, 2:59.61)
- 1000Y Freestyle (FR Megan Doung, 13:56.01)
- 200Y Freestyle (FR Brisa Ayala, 2:29.80)
- 50Y Freestyle (Ayala, 30.12)
- 200Y Backstroke, (FR Isabella Medina, 2:44.46)
- 200Y Breastroke (Duong, 3:02.26)
- 500Y Freestyle (FR Magaly Melgar, 7:07.73)
- 100Y Butterfly (FR Emma Dear, 1:15.43)
- 200Y IM (Dear, 2:50.43)
- 400Y Freestyle Relay (FR Angela Trieu, Melgar, Medina, Cardenas, 5:03.65)
Assistant coach Elias Roche was pleased with the team's overall performance. "We did well, considering that some of the swimmers are banged up," said Roche. "We got some ladies to drop their times, too."
UP NEXT:
For the second straight year, ELAC Swim Stadium will be the site for the ELAC/PCC Invitatonal next week. Competition will run Thursday/Friday/Saturday, which each day starting at 10am.
