Water Polo season ends this week

MONTEREY PARK, CA — East Los Angeles College ended the regular season with two losses at the 13th Pasadena October Mini Tournament today.

The Huskies, 4-20 overall, lost 8-2 to host Pasadena City College (13-11) and 19-4 to Chaffey College (14-11).

ELAC will face No. 3-seed Chaffey in the first round of the South Coast Conference Championship 8-team Tournament at Cerritos College on Friday morning, time to be announced.

If ELAC wins they will play in the semifinals later on Friday. If they lose, ELAC will play at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday morning against the loser of the Cerritos/Pasadena game, the 4th and 5th seeds, respectively.

In the loss to Pasadena, freshman Alejandra Mendoza (South Gate High School) scored both goals for ELAC, which were both assisted by sophomore Yvonne Young (Mark Keppel HS).

ELAC had 12 shots, which included five from Mendoza and three from Brandy Macias (Bell Gardens HS).

Pasadena had 20 shots, 12 saved by ELAC freshman goalie Krystal Ramirez (Montebello HS).

Young had eight steals and sophomore Brandy Macias (Bell Gardens HS) had seven.

Against Chaffey, Mendoza and freshman Michelle Delgado (Montebello HS) each scored two goals.

Young added to her team-leading 88 steals with four against Chaffey.

Chaffey shot 21 times. Ramirez had four saves for the Huskies.
